Help Using the Catalog and Shopping Cart

Introduction

We have now implemented a new shopping cart system. Unlike the old system, we now calculate shipping costs online. Please note that after you submit an order, your card will not be charged until we actually send the goods (normally within 2 days of receiving the order.

The new system uses a Wishlist. The Wishlist feature is similar to a shopping cart in that it allows you to add items and remove items. However, it also allows you to add items which are out of stock (not yet released, or sold out). And, if you choose to create a login to the site, the system will remember your wishlist the next time you come back (as well as your settings for the catalog, and the other details you register with us). If you don;t create a login you can still use the site and place an order, but your wishlist and other details will not be stored. To add or remove  items to your wishlist simply click "Add" or "Remove" next to the item description. To place an order, simply click "Place Order". By default all the items in your wishlist will be included in your order and you can change the quantities or remove items from the order as you please.

We use a secure server using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), which guarantees your security when entering/viewing sensitive information such as credit card data.

The catalog is an interactive, database driven system that allows you to search for and browse all the items in our catalog, both music items and non-music items.

To enter the catalog from anywhere on the site, simply click the "Catalog" menu button at the top of the menu on the left. You will then be presented with a screen allowing you to choose between the music catalog and the non-music catalog. Alternatively, from the main index page you can enter the catalog by typing some text in the "Search For" box and then pressing Enter (or clicking on "Search").

Finding New Release Information

Simply enter the catalog by clicking "Catalog" on the menu from anywhere in the site. Then in the "Music - CDs, Vinyl" section (the top section) simply click on the "Music Catalog" text link. Alternatively, from the main home page, simply click the text link "View Latest Arrivals" on the left side of the page below the "Welcome to Saiko Sounds heading"  The resulting screen is a summary of the recent new arrivals, the releases which are expected to arrive soon, and the current special offers. Each of these sections can be expanded by clicking on the link at the bottom of each section.

By default the releases are sorted in date order. You can change this setting to show them in label order, in the "Customize Your Search" options. Simply select your choice from the "Sort New Releases By" list near the bottom of the Customize Your Search dialog box. Then click Save.

Browsing by Artist and Label

First, enter the catalog by clicking "Catalog" on the menu from anywhere in the site. Then in the "Music - CDs, Vinyl" section (the top section) simply click on the "Music Catalog" text link. Alternatively, from the main home page, simply click the text link "CDs and Vinyl" just a few lines below the "Welcome" text.

Then simply click on either ARTIST or LABEL. In the screen that follows you can view the names artists and labels alphabetically, and by clicking on an artist name, or the small icon beside the name, which will return the discography.

The Artist discography shows the actual releases by that artist in the top section, and it also shows the tracks by that which appear on compilations in the bottom section

To see further information about a release, including tracklistings, realaudio samples, release notes and album cover graphics, simply click on the release name. You can also click on the artist name (if you are browsing by label) or the label name (if you are browsing by artist) which will take you to the discography of that artist (or label).

By default, track listings for releases and links to audio samples are displayed. Track listings can be turned off using the "Customize Your Search" options, available everywhere in the catalog simply uncheck the "Tracklists in searches" option. Then click on Save. (See below for more details on the Customize options).

If you want to search for a specific artist, you can also use the Search Engine. See below for more details.

Using the Search Engine

The Search Engine is a fully featured way to search our catalog. Using the Search Engine, you can find artists, labels, tracks by a particular artist and even tracks which have been remixed by a particular artist.

Important Note: You must enter a minimum of 3 letters in order for the search to work.

Simply type some text on the Search For box and press Enter (or click on "Search"). The resulting screen has 4 sections.
1) Labels Found Matching "the text you typed". These are links to the discography of the labels which were found where the label name contains the text you searched for. Eg: If you search for TIP, both TIP Records and TIP World will be returned.
2) Artists Found Matching "the text you typed". These are links to the discography of the artists which were found where the artist name contains the text you searched for. Eg, if you search for TIP, the artist "MulTIPlex" will be returned.
3) Releases Found with a name matching "the text you typed". These are actual releases where the TITLE of the release contains the text you searched for. Eg, if you search for "TIP", you will see the "TIP Singles" series of releases and also TIP T-Shirts.
4) Tracks found with a name matching "the text you typed". These are actual tracks where the track name contains the text you searched for. And the actual release on which the track is found is also displayed (If you have Customized your search to not show tracklistings, then only the actual release containing the track is shown - you can then click on the release name to see the tracks). For example, if you search for "LSD" then you will see several results - a list of releases which have a track matching the text you searched for, and the details of the actual track which matched (unless you have chosen not to show tracklists from the Customize options"

This is also an excellent way to search for tracks that have been remixed by a particular artist. Eg if you search for "Hallucinogen", in this section you will see the tracks that have been remixed by Hallucinogen. Important note: These are NOT tracks BY Hallucinogen, they are tracks where the track name contains the text you searched for.

How to View Further Information About a Release

Simple click on the name of title name which is underlined. A new window will appear containing all information about that release which is in our database, such as the album cover graphic, the release notes, the tracklisting and links to the realaudio samples. Once you have finished with this window, you should close it.

Customizing Your Search

There are several ways in which you can customize your searching and browsing. Simply click on "Customize Your Search" from anywhere in the Catalog and then a dialog box will appear with various options:
1) CDs checkbox. Leave this box checked if you want to include CDs in your search. Uncheck it if you want to exclude CDs. By default this option is checked.
2) Vinyl checkbox. Leave this box checked if you want to include vinyl in your search. Uncheck it if you want to exclude vinyl. By default this option is checked.
3) Items Coming Soon. Leave this box checked if you want to include new releases which have not arrived yet. Uncheck this box if you want to exclude them. By default this option is checked.
4) Out of Stock. Leave this box checked if you want to include items which are currently out of stock (including new releases which have not yet arrived). Uncheck this box if you want to exclude them. By default this option is checked.
5) All Chill Music. Leave this box checked if you want to include Chillout releases. Uncheck it if you want to exclude them. By default this option is checked.
6) All dance music. Leave this box checked if you want to include dance music releases in your search. Uncheck it if you want to exclude them.
7) Tracklists in Searches. Leave this box checked if you want to see tracklists beneath the details of each release. Uncheck this to only see the artist / title / format / label. You can still access the tracklists by clicking the release name/title or the icon just next to it.
8) Currency. For your convenience you can change the currency which is displayed in the catalog. Please note however, that the your shopping cart will still show US dollars only, and we will charge your credit card in US$, and also please note that the exchange rates are updated on a weekly basis.
9) Sort New Releases By. You can choose to sort new release by either the label name, or by date. By default, they are sorted in date order.

When you have finished making your choices, then click on Save. The dialog box will then disappear, and the next time you search or browse the catalog, the changes will be effected. If you want to apply the change to the current screen, simply click your browsers "Refresh" button (and say Yes/Retry if you are asked if you want to re-post the form).

How to Listen to Audio Samples

First, you must have a player which can play streaming audio samples in the "realaudio" format. We recommend using the free player from Real.com. You can download it from here. All the realaudio samples can be found from the tracklisting for a release (see the previous section). If realaudio samples are available, you will see a "Listen" button next to the track name. Simple click the Listen button, and your audio player will begin playing the sample. Please note that these are streaming audio samples, and they the quality of playback will depend on, amongst other things, the speed of your internet connection, and the traffic over the internet at the time.
